There was no "ruckus" whatsoever. Dan Rather got a standing ovation at the Big Apple Award because the attendees felt strongly that he was earnest in describing the working relationship between media and public relations. Your readers are entitled to their opinions about what he said. But let's not create a news blitz about something that didn't happen. Rather was dignified and respectful. That's more than a lot of other media people have been toward public relations.

I was at the event and interviewed Dan in the piece you linked to. Don't want to get in the way of a good story but there wasn't any "ruckus" at the event or controversy after. Dan was well received and his comments were considered to be thoughtful by the audience attending. Thanks for linking to the interview.
