Brand journalism creates credible, influential news sites and stories for companies and organizations seeking better content development, integration and management.
Springfield Lewis, a recognized expert in business communications for FORTUNE 100 companies, will discuss how storytelling – when tied to the business agenda – brings out the best in an organization. He will discuss how it strengthens relationships with employees, customers, investors and reporters at the 2012 Emerging Tech Conference being held June 23 – 24 at the Grapevine Convention Center.
Lewis, vice president of strategic communications at Newsroom Ink, a communications and reputation management agency, will join more than 40 other nationally renowned social media, communication and new media experts scheduled to present at the two-day event.
“As technology goes into warp drive, it is important to keep content at the forefront of emerging trends,” said Lewis, whose career spans journalism, corporate, online agency and consulting work.
“Without well-managed content, you end up with digital glitz that’s devoid of any business substance or purpose.”
The conference has lined up leading experts in a vast variety of online content-driven fields that include: blogging, social media, content marketing , search-engine marketing and new media.
“If a story is worth telling, then it should be told well,” Lewis believes. “To do that, you need a clear storyline – with content that’s accurate, fresh and connected to the people you want to reach.
“Brand journalism and the online newsroom give clients a more powerful voice, telling their stories on a platform optimized to reach key audiences and build business.”
Lewis helped develop and drive best practices for EDS, Imperial Sugar and Harris Communications cited by PRWeek, Melcrum Internal Communications and the Executive Communications Council, which is part of the Corporate Executive Board. His work covers leadership communications, employee engagement and organizational storytelling – as well as creating strategic content and dynamic online communications.
His career includes communications and marketing leadership roles at IBM’s national and global operations in Atlanta and New York. Before IBM, Lewis worked as a journalist for The Cincinnati Post, Rocky Mountain News and other media. He stepped back into his reporting role while on EDS business at Ground Zero during the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks.
Today, Lewis speaks about the importance of strategic storytelling, content development/packaging and digital communications at industry events and institutions – such as Yale University and Southern Methodist University.
At the conference, Lewis will join speakers that include; Mike Orren founder of Pegasus News, A.J. Wood of Adobe Systems, Giovanni Gallucci of LiveLoudTX, Mike Pratt of Extra Sauce and Michael Johnstone, Technology Consultant at Mark Cuban Companies.
