Sustainability. The word conjures up many opinions, both positive and negative. Join us Tuesday, October 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for our monthly luncheon with guest speaker, Suzanne Russo, chief of staff for Pecan Street, Inc. a 501(c)3 not-for-profit research and development organization headquartered at The University of Texas. Russo will share how she uses communication to achieve the Pecan Street Project’s sustainability mission.
Today, every business leader is charged with connecting their organization’s mission to the values of its customers. Sustainability can be a tricky value to communicate as it is loaded with preconceptions. Russo will tell how she focuses her organization’s operations around the communication of its sustainability goals and how they successfully implement Pecan Street’s work, including the recruitment and maintenance of 1,000 volunteer participants and management of a leading industry consortium.
About our speaker:
Suzanne Russo is chief of staff for Pecan Street, Inc. Prior to joining the organization, she was director of sustainability initiatives for New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development where she led the development of green building and sustainable retrofit standards for municipally-funded affordable housing. Suzanne holds a Master of Community and Regional Planning from The University of Texas at Austin.
